Saddle stitch imposition is the mapping from reader order to 2-up printed sheets. This page is a full saddle stitch imposition tool—the same engine as the PDF booklet maker on the home page—not a silent redirect. Drop a PDF, preview Sheets, Reader, and Spreads, then export a printable file. Your file never leaves this browser.

Each sheet has four slots. Front left, front right, back left, back right. For eight pages the outer sheet is 8 beside 1 on the front and 2 beside 7 on the back. Inner sheets nest. You print duplex, flip on the long edge for a landscape sheet, fold the stack once, and staple the spine. Page 1 is the cover because the formula puts it on the outer front-right. There is no separate cover plate.

If the page count is not a multiple of four, blank pages are appended at the end until it is. Source blank pages stay; they are real reader pages. Bleed is a number you type, an inset from CropBox (or MediaBox if CropBox is absent) to trim. This tool does not scan printer marks. Gutter is millimeters per spine side. Creep shifts inner sheets toward the spine.

Use Auto paper to keep two copies of page 1’s visual size side by side, or pick A4 or Letter landscape if that sheet is too large for a home printer. Mixed sizes fit inside page 1’s slot by default. Print quality embeds pages as Form XObjects; if embed fails, those pages flatten at 300 ppi. Preview-quality export is JPEG at 144 ppi. Both qualities share one geometry function, so slot numbers, creep sign, and gutter side cannot disagree.

This is page geometry only. It is not a RIP, not a color workflow, and not a print shop. It does not merge, split, or compress PDFs. When you are ready, load a file below or try the 8-page sample, then read the print settings under Export.
